How You Can Help

• Gifts that pay you income

• Gifts that make an impact later

• Gifts that make an impact today

Gifts That Pay You Income

Make a donation today, receive a stream of income for life. When you are considering ways to support The Foundation, you do not have to choose between supporting a cause you believe in and your own financial security. There are options that will help you do both!

Charitable Gift Annuity

This is a popular way to make a gift during your lifetime, where you get to see the benefits of your generosity while securing a stream of income for life at the same time. A gift annuity will pay you (or someone else, if you choose), a fixed amount each year, based upon your age when you establish the annuity. If you do not need the income now, you can establish the gift annuity but defer the payments until a set time in the future. A gift annuity can also provide significant tax advantages in the way of a charitable tax deduction in the year you make your gift. In addition, part of each payment that you receive may be tax-free or possibly taxed at a lower rate than other income for a period of time.

Charitable Remainder Trust

If you have built up a sizeable estate and are looking for ways to receive reliable payments either for life or a set number of years, a charitable remainder trust may be a good option for you. Selected assets can be transferred into a trust that is professionally managed. The trust will then pay you, or someone you designate, for the remainder of your life or for a period of time up to 20 years. Your payments can either be a fixed dollar amount, or they can vary depending on the value of the trust. When the trust terminates, the remaining funds will be paid to The Foundation to further our mission of healing children. This type of arrangement can provide you with several benefits including a charitable tax deduction, potential for increased income, and up-front capital gains tax avoidance.

Charitable Lead Trust

This type of trust is designed to provide financial support to a charity for a specific period of time, with the remaining assets going to the beneficiaries after the designated time has passed. It is funded by donating cash or property during the life of the donor to an irrevocable trust. The trust makes payments to The Foundation for a specified term of years. Payment amounts may be the same each year or may be variable based on how the trust is established. At the end of the payment term, the donor or beneficiaries receive any remaining trust assets.

Gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trustscan be funded with either cash or appreciated assets such as securities, closely held stock, real estate, or tangible personal property

Gifts That Make An Impact Later

Make a significant difference in the lives of boys and girls for generations to come, without affecting your current lifestyle.  When you include The Foundation of The Methodist Home in your estate plans, you can feel confident knowing your legacy of compassion will continue for generations to come! There are many options to choose from with numerous benefits for you and your heirs.

Wills & Living Trusts

A donation through your will or living trust is a simple way to make a big impact in the lives of wounded children. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, or a percentage of your estate to be given to The Foundation. You do not even have to write a new will; just include an amendment to your existing will (called a codicil) that clearly outlines your wishes.

Beneficiary Designation

Another option you might consider is designating The Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan assets, brokerage or bank accounts, life insurance, or insurance annuities. This can be accomplished by contacting the plan administrator and asking for the appropriate beneficiary designation form, filling it out, and returning it.

Gifts That Make An Impact Today

Donate online today.Your contribution today can be put to work immediately, securing the future for boys and girls who desperately need your help. You can donate online by going to our donate page or you can send a check to our mailing address below. Either way, your tax-deductible gift will have an immediate effect on helping the children. You may also make gifts of appreciated assets, such as stocks or real estate, that could potentially have a great impact on our children, while generating a tax benefit for you.

The Joseph Company is a funding initiative that perpetuates the miracle of the Joseph story in Genesis by preparing today for difficult times in the future. Members of The Joseph Company agree to make annual gifts of $1,200 for seven years. Through these gifts, The Foundation raises financial resources ahead of time for the children and families who will struggle with the famines of abuse, neglect, and poverty in the future.

You can also make gifts of appreciated assets, such as stocks or real estate, that could potentially have a greater impact on the children, while generating a larger tax benefit.

No matter how you choose to give, know that your generosity will have far reaching effects, touching the lives of boys and girls desperate for healing today, and even those children who have not yet been born.
