OUR WORK

What We Do

Each year the Foundation makes a significant distribution to support the day to day operations of The Methodist Home. This is possible because of our diligent work to manage and grow the Endowment. The Foundation’s support of The Methodist Home is critical for a number of reasons.

First, it provides security for the ongoing care of the children under our watch. Often times when various sectors of the economy begin to slow down, annual giving to The Methodist Home may also decline. The Foundation’s distributions enable The Methodist Home to continue caring for the children because the needs of our boys and girls always remain. Often, the number of children needing care increases during difficult economic times.

Second, it gives The Methodist Home the ability to be responsive, adding services and programs as the needs arise. Adapting services and programs may come about as a response to changes in state or federal law. They may also be a result of better understanding the effects of trauma on young people and how to more effectively treat that trauma. The Home has been on the leading edge of childcare in Georgia in large part because of this ability.

Finally, a solid and growing endowment allows The Methodist Home to better plan for the future.  With secure funding in place, The Methodist Home can be confident that as long as children need a safe place to heal from the effects of abuse and neglect, they will have the capability to help these children.

When you make the decision to partner with The Foundation, you are really making the decision to invest in the lives of boys and girls for generations to come. You are providing hope to boys and girls who have been damaged by abuse and have suffered from neglect. These children need a sanctuary from the trauma inflicted upon them, and you can feel proud that you are part of the solution.  Your partnership helps ensure that children have warm beds and clean clothes, hot meals and warm hugs, a solid education, and a firm faith that will help launch them forward into a productive, healthy life. Your partnership helps break the cycle of poverty and abuse and changes family futures forever.

How We Do It

We help kindhearted people make thoughtful, planned gifts, that allow them to experience the true joy of generosity.  If you are like a lot of compassionate people, you have probably thought more than once, “If only I could do more.” You want to help, but you also have your own needs to consider, as well as the needs of others that you care about. We believe that in most cases, you can do both! You can support the needs of hurting children, as well as take care of your on-going needs and provide a blessing to your loved ones.

We offer many ways to support our mission besides writing a check. Some people have appreciated assets they can donate, while others turn an asset, like real estate or stocks, into an income stream for life.

Smart planning can have significant positive tax implications. We will gladly sit with you and explore options that would be most appropriate for your situation, while fully respecting your wishes. We will even work with your legal and financial professionals to ensure the plans you have made are structured and executed in a way that is most beneficial for you.

No matter how you decide to give, your gifts to The Foundation will be managed prudently within the guidelines of our investment policy.  Our policy is structured to manage risk in order to protect the Endowment as well as ensure a steady stream of ongoing support for the ministries of The Methodist Home.
