OUR MISSION

The Foundation of The Methodist Home is responsible for securing funds and managing the permanent Endowment in order to sufficiently meet the needs, in perpetuity, of The Methodist Home.

Each year, from earnings on its assets, The Foundation helps make possible the programs and services rendered by The Methodist Home to the children and families it serves. Our ability to provide such assistance would not be possible without the friendship, prayers, and support of those who share the desire to give children a chance to grow and mature physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

OUR HISTORY

The Methodist Home

Founded in 1872, The Methodist Home provides care for children and families in need across Georgia.  It is a faith-based organization that works to equip at-risk youth and families with the ability to grow into contributing and productive members of society.  The Methodist Home offers a continuum of care including residential homes for children, community foster homes, specialized treatment programs, counseling services, preventative services, transitional living, and on-campus education.  The Methodist Home offers multi-faceted residential care at several sites throughout South Georgia, addressing the needs of abused, neglected, and abandoned children. The Methodist Home operates five campuses throughout the state; Valdosta, Americus, Columbus, St. Mary’s, and Macon. The Macon campus also serves the community by providing child care services through Eagle’s Nest Children’s Center.

The Foundation of The Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference, Inc.

The Foundation was established in 1999 and is a separate entity from The Methodist Home. Our primary purpose is to benefit and support the mission of The Methodist Home. The Foundation provides capital assistance enabling The Methodist Home to serve Georgia’s neglected and abused children. The Foundation oversees and manages all the long-term gifts made for the benefit of The Methodist Home. The gifts include, donations to the endowment, planned giving funds, non-cash and property donations, and funds for The Joseph Company.

The generosity of our donors through their gifts of cash, appreciated stock, beneficial interests in trusts, annuities, real property, and estates, enable us to fulfill our mission. We are truly grateful for our donors because they enable The Home to make a difference in children’s lives. As a result of the generosity of our donors’ gifts and the stewardship of these investment assets, The Foundation’s endowment continues to grow, thus providing an increasingly solid base of funding for The Methodist Home

Since its beginning in 1999, the Foundation has significantly impacted the work of The Methodist Home with distributions of over $22 million for its ministry of caring for children in crisis. These distributions have resulted in thousands of abused and neglected children being loved, clothed, nourished, and educated. Children have felt the gentle, healing hand of God in their counselors and therapists. They have seen the loving, compassionate face of Jesus in their cottage staff and have found a place to call home in the arms of adoptive families. All of this is possible because of the generosity of compassionate friends like you!
